Barker Field Dog Park

Barker Field is a haven for dogs who love to make new friends. It offers two separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs, as well as on-site water, toys, and picnic benches for chilling out. Be sure to check out Byrd Park, Pump House, Shields Lake, and Dogwood Dell to take advantage of all the variety that the area has to offer!

  • Accessibility: 2/5 – The parking lot is gravel with limited accessible parking spaces. Along with the wood chip substrate and steeper terrain in the park itself, certain areas may be inaccessible to some.
  • Suitable for Anxious Dogs: 1/5 – Very highly trafficked throughout the week, and some dogs might find the atmosphere overwhelming. Not suitable for dog-reactive or dog-selective dogs.

Short Pump Dog Park

Short Pump Dog Park is a paradise for social dogs who thrive in an active, bustling environment. With separate, fully turfed areas for large and small dogs, as well as on-site water, pools, and shelters for cooling off, this park has everything you need for a fun outing. After your pup is tuckered out, be sure to check out the walking trails and playground in the adjacent Short Pump Park!

  • Accessibility: 5/5 – The parking lot is fully paved with several designated accessible parking spaces. The fully turfed park is also on even ground and very easy to navigate.
  • Suitable for Anxious Dogs: 1/5 – This is a very busy park with lots of activity, so it’s not ideal for anxious, dog-reactive, or dog-selective pups.

Northside Dog Park

Northside Dog Park is a quieter alternative for pups who prefer a smaller group of friends. With two separate fenced-in areas for large and small dogs, it offers a small but charming alternative for more low-energy dogs to socialize.

Church Hill Dog Park offers a cozy space for pups to stretch their legs and enjoy some off-leash fun, with separate play areas for large and small dogs. Like Northside, it’s a smaller, less trafficked park, making it a good option for dogs who prefer a calmer environment. Ruff Canine Club is a private, membership-only dog park that offers a safe, structured environment for social dogs to play under the direct supervision of trained on-site “Rufferees.” Memberships are available in three tiers: pay-per-day, monthly, or annual, so you can choose the option that best suits your needs.

Unlike with a public dog park, visitors of Ruff Canine Club must meet specific medical requirements before they can enter, no exceptions:

  1. Current on all major vaccinations (Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella), with all records uploaded into their pet profile in advance.
  2. At least 4 months old, with up-to-date puppy vaccinations.
  3. Spayed or neutered (if over 1 year old).
  • Accessibility: 5/5 – The facility is designed with accessibility in mind, offering a paved parking area and flat, fully turfed, and well-maintained grounds.
  • Suitable for Anxious Dogs: 2/5 – Although best suited for social dogs, the controlled environment, staff supervision, and temperament testing means that all visiting dogs are friendly and well-behaved.
