Giving Back to Shelter Dogs This Holiday Season

For the entire month of December, Tuckered Out Dog Walking is donating 10% of all proceeds to our Shelter Outing fund in partnership with Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC). This program gives shelter dogs the chance to experience life outside the kennel, offering joy, enrichment, and love—all of which increase their chances of adoption and long-term success after they leave the shelter.

Why Shelter Outings Matter

On average, dogs stay in shelters for about a month before they are adopted, sometimes longer. Shelter workers across the country pour every ounce of their time and energy into the animals, but they always need more help.

Shelter Outings are a fantastic way for you to help provide quality time for these dogs, in the care of a skilled, attentive, professional dog handler! These Shelter Outings are designed to help shelter dogs cope with the stress of their time in a kennel, and to equip them with skills they’ll need to thrive in their forever home.

Our skilled and compassionate team coordinates with Richmond Animal Care & Control to take the most in-need shelter dogs out for an adventure to a nearby park, where we’ll focus on enrichment and decompression through a sniffari-style walk, reward-based games, and exploration. We’ll then return the pup to the shelter 60 minutes later feeling rejuvenated and enriched! These Shelter Outings are specifically aimed at helping shelter dogs manage the stress of their kennel stay and develop the necessary skills to flourish in their forever homes.

The benefit of our Sponsored Shelter Outing program is three-fold:

  1. It gives the dog an exciting and enriching out-of-kennel experience.
  2. It provides the shelter with valuable information they can use to place the dog with the perfect family.
  3. It produces substantial public and social media exposure to help these dogs get connected with their potential adopters.

How It Works

Every service you book this month helps fund a day of adventure for a shelter dog at Richmond Animal Care & Control. Every Shelter Outing is an opportunity for the most in-need shelter dogs to have a much-needed and well-deserved break from the kennel. It is a chance for them to decompress and build the necessary skills and exposure needed to find their forever homes, as well as set them up for a lifetime of success post-adoption.

To show our immense gratitude for your support, every client who books with us in December will receive detailed reports of the outings you helped fund, along with heartwarming photos of each of the shelter dogs enjoying their special day. It’s our small way of saying thank you for making a difference and letting you see firsthand the joy you bring to each of these amazing shelter dogs.
